Born and raised in Nashville, TN, I learned about community from an early age. Throughout high school and college, I was involved in various and diverse community education, youth development, and cultural events. Understanding the intersection of health and community from a refugee and immigrant background always fascinated me. After completing an undergraduate degree in psychology from Belmont University, it was clear to me that I wanted to bridge the gap between health services and those served, especially when it came to mental and behavioral health. These disparities motivated me to continue to graduate education and obtain my Masters’ in Social Work and Public Health (MSW/MPH) at the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. Through my graduate education, I gained the skills and experiences to become a more effective leader and health professional.
